Also known as Anorex, Leptoprin ranks as our worst diet pill reviews. Manufactured by Klein Becker, it tries to market itself as the “miracle pill” or a “powerful” drug similar to many prescriptions. But like many disreputable products, Leptoprin has been reformulated at least once, and will likely be reformulated many times in the future. Even after its first reformulation, it is no better than before, using weak and run of the mill ingredients to attempt to look professional. Ingredients: Orlistat

The only FDA approved over the counter diet pill on the market, Alli is a fat blocker designed to promote gradual weight loss. Alli may be FDA approved, but FDA approval does not guarantee results. Many users are quite vocal about their complaints, and even those pleased with alli seem to mention the same few side effects including extreme diarrhea, orange spots in their underwear, having to use adult diapers to avoid extreme embarrassment, stomach pains, etc. Myalli.com also requires users to stick to an essentially no fat diet and exercise program to achieve results. However, a no fat diet plan would achieve results on its own, when some users get no results at all, even with the accompanying diet plan. #3 Relacore

Ingredients: Magnolia bark, passion flower, scutellaria root, niacinimide, DHEA, panax ginseng root, pinella tuber, jujube fruit, perilla leaf, and phosphotidylserine

Reaching the bottom 3 on our list of diet products, Relacore first capitalized on the idea of targeting belly fat by ridding the body of a hormone called cortisol. It has been sold largely through TV commercials, and they don’t even classify themselves as a “diet pill” in the truest sense of the word. Though your body does product the hormone cortisol when stressed, what the makers of Relacore don’t mention is the fact that it takes an extreme amount of cortisol to produce the kind of belly fat they claim to get rid of, an extreme amount that will not build up in 99% of the population. They also fail to mention the ingredients they use don’t actually combat this problem, which is why the FTC sued Basic Research, the makers of Relacore, in October 2004 for making unsubstantiated claims. #4 Hoodia Chaser

Ingredients: hoodia gordonii and garcinia cambogia extract

Using the catch phrase “Chase your hunger away with hoodia chaser”, Hoodia Chaser capitalizes on the recent fame of the appetite suppressant hoodia gordonii, which has no clinical studies to back its claims. Moreover, because of its extreme popularity, more hoodia is actually sold than can be harvested in a given time frame. In other words, most of it is fake. Hoodia Chaser does not even attempt to provide the supposed concentration of their supplement, and it lacks any other serious appetite suppressing ingredients that would make up for its lack of legitimacy in name. When we found out Dexatrim Natural was sold largely through stores like Walmart, it was an instant red flag. While Walmart does provide affordable options, a diet pill is not something to expect to find cheap, and when we completed a thorough evaluation, we were not at all surprised, especially considering the price. If $7.99 per 30 day supply provides a significant profit to both manufacturer and seller, it is likely not worth more than 50 cents. Ingredients: filtered water, apple, cranberry, raspberry, blueberry, blackberry, strawberry juice concentrate, xanthan gum, acai citrin, ascorbic acid, natural blueberry flavor, niacinimide, pantothenic acid, pyridoxine HCI, riboflavin, thiamine mononitrate, folic acid, cyanocobalamin, palmitate vitamin A, vitamin D3, and vitamin E.

The so named “celebrity” diet, the Hollywood Diet uses juice to “cleanse! Detoxify! Rejuvenate!” And using that, they promise up to 10 pounds weight loss in 2 days. However, the Hollywood Diet ingredient list reads more like a fruit juice or a multivitamin than a weight loss supplement, and you may lose weight. But who wouldn’t lose weight for the first few days of starving themselves. As soon as your body realizes it’s starving, one of two things will happen: your body will go into starvation mode and hold onto every little bit of fat it possibly can or the minute you start eating solid foods again the weight will come back with a vengeance. Another formula based on hoodia gordonii, Hoodia Formula claims not only to provide the standard benefit of appetite suppression, but also to speed metabolism, regulate blood sugar, burn fat, boost energy, and improve your self esteem with no stimulants. They provide a “certification” for their hoodia, but it’s so blurry that no one can actually tell what it is. Moreover, we reiterate that hoodia gordonii has not been tested in any clinical trials, and hoodia has been speculated only to suppress appetite, leaving all the other supposed benefits unaccounted for. Advertised largely through the radio, Mega T Green Tea was one of the first products to be based almost solely on green tea. The problem lies in the fact that while Mega T tells everyone they can help you lose 20 pounds fast, they do not have the substance to actually live up to that claim. They use proprietary blends to mask what is already obviously a sub par formula. The ingredients are run of the mill ingredients that, despite Mega T’s specialization in green tea, can be found in any other average diet pill on the market. A supposedly “Swiss fat burner”, Crevax uses 7 supposedly “unique and powerful ingredients” to burn fat and suppress appetite without any side effects. They claim no product can compare to them, because of their use of green tea and hoodia. I can think of at least one, Mega T green tea with hoodia. There is only one way in which Crevax is even potentially unique, its complete uselessness. The hoodia is most likely fake, green tea may be a powerful antioxidant, but isn’t specialized to promote extreme weight loss as they would propose, and the rest of the ingredients have nothing to do with weight loss. $69.95 could easily be spent somewhere more practical and on other, more useful weight loss supplements. “Just follow the instructions and take a few capsules of EPH 200 each day to lose up to a pound of fat every 24 hours.” Incase you didn’t know, a pound of fat is equal in volume to a gallon. So it is quite impossible to burn that much fat in a period of 24 hours, especially without diet or exercise. The EPH 200 formula is run of the mill, and they fail to provide any quantities.
